Premier Inn Create 1000 new jobs for Christmas

At Christmas a Premier Inn may be just be the place to be; whether it is a short shopping break or a Christmas party in one of their restaurants you are sure to have a good time. But can a Premier Inn offer anything else?

Christmas is coming
Does the thought of Christmas fill you with trepidation or excitement? If it is excitement then you are probably not too worried about the expense, well no more than any other year. It is true belts will have to be tighten on the run up to Christmas but some will be luckier than others over the financial repercussions of the festive season.

For all those that are not too bothered about Christmas there will be many more that will be worrying. Even a hermit living in a cave on some remote mountain will somehow have heard about the current world financial crisis and the impact it is having on many people.

But Father Christmas may be along soon for some lucky people, cunningly disguised as a Premier Inn.

Premier Inn is owned by the Whitbread Company who also owns such high street brands as Costa Coffee, Beefeater Grill, Brewers Fayre, Table Table and Taybarns.

Festive season jobs
Premier Inn, the award winning budget hotel chain, are creating 1000 jobs across the UK to assist them provide the service customers deserve on the run up too and over the Christmas holidays. The jobs will cover all aspects of their hotel work including reception, housekeeping, kitchen staff, waiting staff and bar staff.

The duties you can expect to carry out in each role are quite varied and may include;
• Receptionist – dealing with reservations, checking guests in and out, allocating rooms, handing out keys, preparing bills, taking payments, taking and delivering messages, dealing with problems and complaints, dealing with guest requests and answering guests questions.
• Housekeeping – cleaning, polishing, mopping and vacuuming both public areas and guest rooms, re-stocking of guests sundries, making beds and upholding high standards of the hotel.
• Kitchen staff – could be in several different areas each one having its own set of duties and responsibilities. Sous chefs, commis chefs, porters, food servers, cleaning or pot washing.
• Waiting staff – taking orders, serving drinks, serving food, presenting bills and taking cash, removing dishes, cleaning tables and laying tables.
• Bar staff – serving customer’s drinks, pouring drinks, clearing and cleaning tables, taking cash, operating till and making sure public areas are tidy.

What will you get from it?
Although the work is temporary it is an opportunity that will obviously give people some unexpected extra money to help them over Christmas. You will also gain experience in your role which will hold you in good stead for future employment and if you and Premier Inn hit it off who knows where it will lead.

Most of those employed by the chain will be meeting their customers face to face and providing a service where making them happy is the whole aim. Remember these customers are the people responsible for voting Premier Inn the best Hotel Chain of the Year, Best Business Hotel Chain and Best Leisure Hotel Chain; but not just this year last year as well.
