Premier Inn Top Budget Hotel Brand in Europe

Premier Inn has been voted the top economy hotel in Europe 2011 in the JD Power Economy Hotel Guest Satisfaction Survey. You would have read the same statement in 2010, 2009, and 2008 as Premier Inn has just received this award for the fourth time in a row. This has got to be a great achievement for the company and one they should rightfully feel proud of.

What makes this award special is that it is voted for not by professionals involved in the travel or accommodations industry but by the people who sleep in the beds, eat the food and experience the service; yes you the guests of the hotel.

JD Power and the award
JD Power is an American company specialising in global marketing information; to the layman, they gather information from the public for all different kind of products and services around the world and feed it back to the suppliers so that they can use the information to improve their products and services.

The award Premier Inn won was a survey of overall satisfaction of European hotel guests. The hotels are grouped in 4 sectors, upper upscale, upscale, midscale and economy; these categories are not quite so easy to understand for the layman but if economy equals budget you can probably work out the rest.

There are 8 factors that guests are asked to comment on: -
• Overall Satisfaction
• Reservation
• Check In/Check Out
• Guest Room
• Food & Beverage
• Hotel Services
• Hotel Facilities
• Costs & Fees

The scores within these factors are: -
• Among the best
• Better than most
• About average
• The rest

Premier Inn, in order to achieve this award, scored ‘Amongst the best’ in 7 of the 8 factors only slipping to ‘About average’ in the factor ‘Hotel Services’. The results are also transferred into an index with the maximum score being 1000. The economy sector average was 699 and Premier Inn scored 757. Only 2 of the top 6 scored over the average.

Their survey was drawn from replies made by 18,000 guests who stayed between April and September 2011.

In Tempest’s comments he has got straight to the heart of the matter by thanking the guests who have given Premier Inn this award and secondly thanking his staff who have given those guests the good hotel experience that have led to the guests voting Premier Inn best economy hotel.

This award will sit very nicely on the Premier Inn fireplace next to the 3 awards they won in the same week at the British Travel Awards in the categories Hotel Chain of the Year, Best Business Hotel Chain and Best Leisure Hotel Chain.

2011 has certainly been a very good year for Premier Inn’s and with new hotels opening and being built all over the country the potential is for them to move into 2012 with their sight set firmly on replicating their award successes.
